For this recent project, we tackled a complete Las Vegas yard redesign for a homeowner who was dealing with a landscape in very poor condition. From dead grass and overgrown weeds to exposed dirt and broken irrigation lines, there was no comfortable, functional space left to enjoy.
The homeowners wanted a complete overhaul—a beautiful, low-maintenance desert landscape that provided distinct living areas in the backyard and an elevated, welcoming entrance in the front. Here is how the Chicago Landscape of Las Vegas team executed this amazing property transformation.
Phase 1: Demolition and Preparing the Canvas
Before any beautiful hardscaping or planting could begin, our crew had to address the neglected state of both the front and back yards. We started with a full-scale demolition, clearing out all the overgrown weeds, dead turf, and the shattered, leaking irrigation system that had ruined the soil.
Once the debris was hauled away, we graded the exposed dirt in both yards. Proper grading and site preparation are essential for any successful landscape design, ensuring proper drainage and a stable foundation for the heavy masonry to come.
Phase 2: Elevating the Front Yard Curb Appeal
The original front yard lacked dimension and structure. To fix this, our masonry team built custom retaining walls to beautifully elevate and level the front yard space.
With the ground stabilized, we installed a brand-new front walkway utilizing premium paver steps that lead gracefully to the entrance. To tie the entire aesthetic together, we also installed matching paver accents on both sides of the driveway, creating a wide, luxurious, and cohesive entrance.
Phase 3: Building the Ultimate Backyard Oasis
The backyard was previously a wasteland of dirt and weeds, offering no usable space for the family. As part of this Las Vegas yard redesign, we transformed the backyard into a multi-functional desert retreat.
We laid a spacious paver patio for outdoor dining and lounging, which transitions beautifully into a custom natural slate walkway. At the heart of the yard, we constructed a gorgeous custom-built fire pit, creating the perfect evening gathering spot.
To soften the hardscaping and add vibrant color without the massive water bill, we installed high-quality artificial turf alongside multiple desert-adapted trees and plants. The remaining landscape beds were finished with decorative landscape rocks, tied together with a brand-new, high-efficiency drip irrigation system.
The Result: A Masterpiece in Desert Landscaping
The transformation of this property was nothing short of amazing. By utilizing water-smart practices encouraged by the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA), we were able to give the homeowner a lush, dynamic landscape that requires a fraction of the maintenance and water.
